All my personal heroes have one thing in commmon, they have all come crashing down since the time i started liking them, Call it fate, Call it whatever u wish! But i seriously feel someone out there is conspiring against me...
the list goes on and on - Mike Tyson, Monica Seles, Jim Courier, Waqar Younis, Vinod Kambli..
U must have guessed whats common between these guys. And the funny part of the story is that their careers came plumetting down after i started liking them. For i distinctly remember how i used to hate Vinod Kambli when he was getting those double hundreds and making runs by the dozen. But the moment i really started liking him when the home test series against New Zealand was going on, and i remember his innings in a test match in the very same series when he smashed 5 fours in an over by doull i think. Man i swear i knew for sure at that moment that here is my hero. And then came the world cup of 96, he did reasonbly well, scoring at an avg.of 42 and was the second highest run getter for india after Sachin.. But he was unceremoniously dropped and since then things have never been the same.
And then I started watching his earlier innings, and the more i saw, the more i was convinced that he is surely someone special. Those delectable late cuts, those thumping drives, those magnificent pull shots, and those majestic lofted sixes... i remember them all, but the best part about him was his attitude, confidence almost to the point of arrogance, sheer spontaniety in his antics, and most of all his naked aggression. He is probably the only player in this world who can bat with Sachin, and even when Sachin is playing well, not be overshadowed in any way. I can go on and on about him, but for the minority community who doesn't quite like cricket, let me talk about Monica.
Before i say anything about her, here is one fact for u guys, please correct me if i am wrong... Out of the first 12 grandslams she entered, she reached 11 finals and won 9 of them.. unbeleivable right??..Thats what she was, quite simply the strongest woman tennis player world has ever seen. The way she dominated the womens circuit even when the much-proclaimed queen of tennis Steffi was around was astonishing.
And then one stupid man, and its all gone. And the worst part about it that he got away with it.. disgusting to say the least... since then she has come back, but the charm is gone, the dream is gone...
So tell me guys, am i jinxed or what? But one thing is for sure, I will not trade my heroes for anything in this wide world.. they have shown me what character is, what beauty is and most of all what i really wanted to be...
What stayed with you?
A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.

Thank God! You don't like sachin
ur right i dont like sachin, that would be a understatement..I worship sachin.....
Do u know any gentleman chiristened Mohd. Azharruddin?
yeah, but i never liked him, probably thats why he is still in the team:)
Start disliking kambli again for recovery. His test avg speaks much about him and he is the true example as how to discard one's talent by demoralising through the way sending him out of the team again and again.
