What all of us want to do...........and what we actually do.

There was a day I once had I had to do a lot Just like the morals I was taught I ended up on the last rung Ladder of morality snakes, I slid Even as I climbed, I did

There was a day I once had I had a lot to say Truth to be told lies to kill But all along the way Neither the guts, nor the will Even as I lied, I did

There was a day I once had Happy, I was and bright The world I saw ate that away Never happy another day Along with it, my might Even as I sighed, I did

There was I life I once lived Where even as I lived, I died

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.

truly superb stuff... if this had been a metallica song, i would have said "great lyrics". A lot of great poems from you...keep it coming. and hey, how about a happy, cheerful, birds-singing poem for a change.... :) dizzy

I don't intend to write these they just happen. If you want a go-go poem, check out I Can and Let me be. Appreciate the comments

A very beautiful piece, and ya, it does remind one of Rock, as it speaks of the discontent..wish the discontended soul finds a home someday

This is a truly wonderful poem my friend. Speaks a lot about our imperfect world. Honesty is overrated (ironical to the idea of "honest" abdul). What makes this poem great is what made Shakespeare great... the timelessness of the poem.
