The ideal man, according to me,
Is as confident and comfortable as can be
He could be short or could be tall,
Height doesn’t matter much at all.
His body is exercised and muscular
About fitness, he’s quite particular
He wears clothes of any kind
As long as they appeal to his mind.
He works with concern and concentration
His aim in anything is only perfection
He works so his family is comfortable
His money position is always stable.
He isn’t afraid to share his emotions,
His joys, his dreams and jubilations,
He doesn’t feel the need to hide his tears
He doesn’t hesitate to show his fears.
At home he helps around the place,
Changes nappies or washes baby’s face
He helps to cook for he can tell,
Evenings find his wife tired as well
He isn’t one to be afraid
That his “manhood” will come under raid
By his performing all these tasks.
He doesn’t need to hide under masks.
He’s so sure of himself, you see
He needs no validation from anybody.
He can be himself, he needn’t boast
He knows what’s inside is what matters most
The people around him are in constant surprise
By the ways he finds to light up their eyes
He’s the best father, brother and friend,
He’s the perfect husband right till the end!
Alas such ideal men are rare
Most of the time we have to bear
With those who need to “guard” their manhood
Lest it be lost to them for good!
Seldom do these “men” realize
The world can see through all their lies
In desperation, all their women
Turn out to be much better “men” !
What stayed with you?
A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
